Level 3 questions

Is the world a fair place?

What do you think fair means? Can you think of examples to show fairness/unfairness? You might use examples from Cultural Studies, like child labour, or from your own experience In school or at home. You will be given a writing frame for this question.

To get a higher level for your answer, you could try to explain WHY you think the world is fair or unfair. You might explore what the consequences of a ‘FAIR’ world might be – would it cause problems? This would show you analysing and predicting – a LEVEL 5 skill

OR

What changes have made the world a better place in the last 150 years?
To get a level 3, you need to describe some of the changes that have taken place and made the world better – for example in medicine or technology. You need to explain HOW they have made the world better and show that you understand what the world was like before.

To move beyond level 3, consider the following – have the changes you list made the world a better place for everyone? Have they had a negative or positive impact on the planet? If your changes have saved lives, you might consider whether or not the world can cope with a population which is living longer for example. Can you think of other downsides? You might offer alternatives – how might things have changed differently.  You might want to think about Social changes.YoIf you can do all these things in your answer, you could be getting a level 4 or 5.

  1. Hi its Megan Lunn from 7R, I dont think the world is entirely fair because there are people in some countries suffering from diseases and dying from thirst and hunger because they are very unfortunate and dont have nothing at all to eat.

  3. Olivia it sounds like you have worked really hard on this. Don't worry if you haven't got exactly 1500 words. Just check that you have a conclusion...have you summed up your thoughts? Get your Cultural Studies teacher to check this for you and well done for having the good sense to ask! Mrs H

  5. Hi Courtney, it doesn't matter if you go slightly over (we are not going to count your words :)) The 1500 is just a rough guide so you know what we expect. Mrs H
