Does Education give everyone a fair chance in life?

What do you mean by ‘education’? Does it mean different things in different places, and has it changed in Britain? What are the barriers to education? Are there other considerations – can education alone make the world ‘fair’ and what do you mean by the word ‘fair’?

For a WOW answer, take it further – what other sociological, geographical, economic or political factors might affect the chances of people? As well as giving examples you need to explore what might be done and whether fairness for many might cost a few more than they are willing to give.
