Are people born ‘good’ or ‘bad’?
This is a Level 3/4 Question

Try to describe what you think is a ‘good’ person or a ‘bad’ person and write about some of the ones you have come across in Cultural Studies – you might want to write about people like Martin Luther King or Hitler, Guy Fawkes or Ghandi or you might write about characters from books you have read, or programmes you have watched. You could also use examples from the news. What do you think makes these people ‘good’ or ‘bad’ and do you think they were born that way?

This is a debate about something called ‘nature or nurture’ – to achieve higher levels, you would need to think about how behaviour is created – is it all in our genes or do the things that happen to us in our lives affect the ways we behave? As well as giving examples, you would need to explore whether or not people can be all bad or all good. You would need to give examples of WHY you think people have behaved in the way they have and offer some ideas for how the situations might have been different. If you can do this, you could achieve level 5 or even higher.
